Position Summary

The Teacher is responsible for collaborating with and supporting
another teacher in the classroom. This includes implementing the curriculum, ensuring
the students are learning and growing, and keeping the students safe. Other duties as
assigned. This position is full-time (40 hours per week).

Major Job Responsibilities

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe, warm, orderly and attractive learning environment for all students
  • Ensure that behaviors that are negatively effecting the Pathways classroom are
    addressed in a way that is in line with Pathways philosophies
  • Safety
  • Ensure the safety of all students that are in the care of Pathways
  • Ensure policies and procedures for Pathways Adult Learning Center are
    implemented and met
  • Be aware of all medical conditions and allergies of students enrolled at Pathways
    providing teachers with that information as well
  • Lead students through safety drills


  • Lead a variety of different activities including but not limited to: educational, bible
    study, worship, physical fitness and leisure activities
  • Utilize a variety of effective teaching techniques
  • Ensure that the goals set for each student are a focus and progress is assessed
  • Interact and guide the students within the classroom and during all outdoor activities


  • Lead students in volunteer activities in the community

  • Assist in all Special Olympic activities

  • Go on field trips with students that include a variety of different locations and


  • Transport students in shuttles or rental vehicles

  • Experience with such computer programs as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to physically assist students as needed
  • Training, such as First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention Intervention, and many more
    trainings will be required upon hire and on-going

Education and experience requirements

College bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in a field related to special needs
(education, physical therapy, recreational therapy) and/or experience working with
individuals with intellectual disabilities.


The Full-Time Teacher reports to the Program Manager. The Full-Time Teacher
collaborates with other teachers, volunteers, and guardians.
