“I chose to volunteer at Pathways after learning about a young man who had been praying for many months for a mentor,” shared Marti Grant. “It was a God-ordained match.”

Marti and Jacob quickly formed a deep bond – Jacob with his sharp mind and strong faith, and Marti with her experience as an educator and walk with the Lord. Their friendship was so meaningful that Jacob encouraged everyone he met to become a mentor. Hoping his friends could experience the same joy.

Marti went to be with the Lord in 2024, Jacob grieved the loss of his mentor, but never lost hope. He kept sharing and urging others to step into the role of mentor.

That prayer was answered this past summer when Jacob met Julie while volunteering at the food bank. As she served alongside him, Julie felt that she could make a difference at Pathways. She soon signed up to be a mentor and was paired with Jacob.

Now, the two meet weekly, and Julie is continually blown away by Jacob’s intelligence, kindness, and love for the Lord. Many Pathways students are still waiting for a mentor. Could you be the answer to their prayer?
